Religious education at Community Synagogue inspires a life of Jewish living and learning. We will engage a community of learners through the study of Judaism and Jewish values and transform that instruction into practice.

Grades K-2: Saturdays, 8:45-10:45am

Grades 3-6: Saturdays, 8:45-10:45am and Wednesdays, 4:00-5:45pm

Grade 7: Wednesdays, 4:00-5:45pm and Mondays, 6:30-8:00pm

Grades 8-12: Mondays, 6:30-8:00pm

Note: 11th and 12th graders join our Gesher L'Kesher Peer Leadership program!

Religious School Mission
The mission of The Rabbi Robert A. Rothman Center For Jewish Learning of Community Synagogue, is to provide an enriching Jewish education that inspires our students to engage in lifelong Jewish learning and to embrace Jewish values and traditions. In strong partnership with the family, we strive to foster a love and respect for our people and our heritage, to make Hebrew and Torah study spiritually meaningful, to create a deep connection to Israel and to encourage acts of Tzedakah and Tikkun Olam (repair of the world.)

Priority Learning Goal: Living Illuminated by Torah
Learners at Community Synagogue will be on a journey of applying Torah to daily life. Learners will develop knowledge, the sense of belonging, as well as values, beliefs and actions that enable the learner to make daily decisions in a way that is guided by Jewish teaching.

Religious Education: A Partnership
Our school will be most effective when the school, Congregation and each individual family work together to educate our children. Our curriculum is always being evaluated and improved so that our students can be assured of a quality Jewish education. Each family can do their part too. If families make Synagogue and being Jewish an important priority, the message will be transmitted to your child and the result will be a positive attitude toward religious study.

Some suggestions to accomplish this are:

-Attend the monthly family Shabbat worship service and holiday celebrations with your children.
-Attend J-Life Family Learning.
-Observe Shabbat and other Jewish holidays and festivals at home.
-Reinforce the lessons taught at Religious School as you dofor your children’s secular lessons.
-Make religious education an important priority.
