Synagogue Library

The Community Synagogue Library has had an extensive and impressive history, serving our congregation for most of the past sixty years. When the new school building was constructed, a small group of volunteers came together to organize the new library, and have been maintaining it ever since. Today we have an extensive and noteworthy collection of children's books. We also have a parenting collection and a separate section for our young adults.

Beginning January of 2009, religious school classes in the lower grades have begun regularly scheduled visits to the library and borrowed books. Student volunteers read to classes and help them sign-out books. Adult volunteers are welcome at any time to help circulate, process books or lend a hand. Please contact one of us if you are interested.

We also encourage adults to check the parenting shelves. We have collected a great variety of books on a wide range of topics. Particularly useful are books that explain holiday rituals, describe family crafts, or discuss raising a Jewish child in today’s world. We always welcome suggestions for new purchases to make the library a valuable resource. Parents and students are welcome to come any time to select books or do research. Please follow the sign-out procedures that are displayed on the tops of shelves. Don’t forget to leave the sign-out card with your name and phone number behind the “Parents” tab in the brown sign-out box.

We look forward to seeing you at the Community Synagogue Library!
